Dear Lacrosse Dad: Today when you berated your son after practice - TopicsExpress

Dear Lacrosse Dad: Today when you berated your son after practice for not running well, for looking dead on his feet after a 2 hour practice in the heat and sun, you did nothing to build his resilience, affirm his work ethic, engender a love for his sport, or anything else positive. He is a young man, 13-15 years old, who is working his heart out hoping to excel at a sport you clearly, from your appearance, never played (likely no sport anytime in the last 20 years frankly); he needs constructive feedback which is neither coddling nor destructive to his confidence and developing temperament. Unless you actually played or coached lacrosse, stop acting like you know how to coach your player and let the coaches do their job. All you did today was look like an ass in front of many other parents and lots of player which embarrassed your son when it should have mortified you. And no you will not read this because, while my son says yours is a great guy and a very good player, you are not the kind of person who would be my friend. Take it down a notch or three parents…..its a game and they are young, developing teens. Off my soapbox; that is all.
