Dear Lakshmi, Thank you for email. I am very sorry to hear you - TopicsExpress

Dear Lakshmi, Thank you for email. I am very sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Linköping University. We have indeed many challenges ahead, both with integration issues and with career opportunities in Sweden, and there is no quick fix. With regards to the tuition fees, I am afraid there is nothing the universities can do, as they reflect a political consensus and were expected for several years before they were implemented. Nor can Sweden compete with English speaking countries, most of which are bigger and have a completely different brand compared to Sweden. Nevertheless, there is an ongoing discussion (eg in national media) on how to attract foreign talent to work in Sweden. Unfortunately internships are with a few exceptions, not a part of the Swedish company culture. Some of the big companies and universities are involved in trying to raise awareness of the consequences of the introduction of non-subsidised tuition fees for non-EU citizens. We have an ageing population, and companies need skilled young professionals, so I am confident the system will change in the years to come. I will definitely forward your opinions to the university management. Again thank you for taking your time to explain your opinions, and those of your community and Indian managers about Swedish education. Best regards Eva Lena T. Rodriguez Project The Managers Diary
