Dear Lighthouse Family: Do you trust God to provide for you? - TopicsExpress

Dear Lighthouse Family: Do you trust God to provide for you? Yes we all need to do our part, of course, but what about after that? It’s so easy to get caught up in the luxuries of American living and completely dismiss God’s desires for us. Pastor Brown took us to 2 Kings 4, and read a story of a woman who cried out to Elisha for help. She knew God yet she was afraid. How could someone who knows God and has seen God’s hand move have fear in her heart? Easy … if she looked at her circumstances instead of her Lord. We all can get caught up in our agendas. When this happens we often cry out to God, “I’m done! I’m lost! I have nothing!” And we may believe what we say is true … but is it really? Elisha lovingly asked this woman what she really had … and what she had was enough for God to use to fill all her needs. You may not like your home, but isn’t there a roof over your head? You may not like your clothes, but aren’t you covered? And know—without a doubt—if you look around you can find someone who has less than you. Offer what you have to others. Live your life with an open hand. When you do, God shows up. If you want your life to be different, start out each day with a prayer, “Father, I am available as your divine helper today. How can I help you?” You may be surprised at what happens. God specializes in doing lots with only a little—remember, He’s God! Offer what you have and trust He will give you what you need. Stop waiting for what you want; it might not be what God has in mind for you. And if He wants it for you, don’t you think He’ll provide it? Think about it … --R.L. (Steering Team Committee)
