Dear Lord, As we go through life with its ups and downs and hurts - TopicsExpress

Dear Lord, As we go through life with its ups and downs and hurts and losses…sometimes we need to take a step back and focus on the fundamentals of our faith to renew us and put the events of our lives into the proper perspective. Today, we remember the words you said on the cross, “It is Finished.” Three small words, but they should have such an incredible impact on our lives every single day. Because of what you did… We are set free from the curse of sin and death… We are set free from worry… We are set free from the uncertainty of what awaits after death… We are able to grieve, yet have hope… We are set free from the fear of being taken from the shelter and safety that you provide… We are set free from guilt… We are set free from going through life alone… We are set free from carrying burdens too heavy for us to bear… Lord, your death meant victory for us. Help us to live in that victory today. We may face adversity, but we know the final outcome is settled and we are victors. We may face loss of loved ones…but it is temporary. We may face hunger or homelessness, but because of what Christ finished on the cross we know there is coming a day when we will never thirst or hunger again and we will live in a place of unspeakable beauty that none of us can even begin to imagine, in bodies that will be incorruptible. Oh, Lord, the enemy was defeated by you on that cross and when you rose again, but so often we live like he wasn’t. We act defeated in our lives because we take our eyes from you. We gaze too long at these temporary difficulties and take our eyes from you. The enemy comes to rob, steal and destroy, but you take what he means for harm and use it for our good. Help us think on these things, Lord. Help us Lord, to rise above the cares and worries and pain of this life. Help us to think of the cross and the empty tomb today and be filled with joy and strength. There is nothing that we will face this day that cannot be overcome, because of what you’ve already done for us. Give us a perspective that rises above the temporary to the eternal today. Help us to stand confidently and courageously in the victory and peace that comes through you, Lord. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen. Hope you have a peaceful weekend!
