Dear Manu, My wife, daughter and I were recently in Melbourne courtesy of the little brand, advertising and design agency I work for here in Auckland and we had the absolute pleasure to dine at Le Grande Cirque on Saturday the 19th of July. Since we have been back, we have all been saddened to read/see that your dream will be closing. The reporting, or lack of it, indicated to me a complete untruth - that included the so called reviews I read - relating to the venue, the service and the food being poor. We found every aspect of your lifetime ambition to be absolutely brilliant. I personally found the stunningly creative twist on the perceived notion of French cuisine normally being complex and overworked, flipped on its head to deliver the intriguing and the exotic in a beautiful performance of culinary theatre. You were the master of the show and I understand the balancing act you would have tried to accomplish between MKR and your baby, but although you were clearly the ringmaster, your team of chefs and your wait staff were the stars. That can only come from a deep understanding of what you wanted to deliver and the experience you wanted your clientele to have and take with them. We will remember the evening forever.
