Dear Miley Cyrus, I wanted you to know that I teach at an elementary school in Tennessee, your home state. Each year the children love to put on a play honoring famous people from Tenneessee. They have portrayed famous Tennesseans like Elvis Presley, WC Handy, Wilma Rudolph, and Dolly Parton. I wanted you to know that each year the little girls begged to be Miley Cyrus...alias Hannah Montana. You were one of the best parts of the show. Sadly, this year the girls overwhelmingly voted to remove your name from the list. You see, they no longer see you as a positive role model for girls. I want you to realize something very important about yourself. 1. You are a talented young lady. You can sing. You do not need to shock people into noticing you. Your talent is powerful and will gain recognition on its own merit. 2. You are a fine actress. I saw you in a movie not long ago and you were great. You were an excellent role model for women of all ages in your role. Remember again, that you do not need to use outlandish methods to gain attention. You have God given talent. 3. Remember, one day you will have children....or grandchildren and you will have to possibly explain your videos to them. That will not be easy. You are someone who is really gifted...like Carol Burnett or Lucille Ball. Those women had to become successful totally on their own...no shock factor. You can do that too, Miley. 4. Finally, one day you will meet your maker. Think about that the most. God loves you, Miley Cyrus...yes...He really loves you. I am hoping you know His love in your heart. With His love, you will be able to see the real person you are...talented beyond belief...so you can feel good about leaving all the other behind.
