Dear Mr Jinnah, I dont want to sound like a broken record on - TopicsExpress

Dear Mr Jinnah, I dont want to sound like a broken record on this very special day when youre probably celebrating your birthday up there in heaven (Happy Birthday!) but I think youre already aware of what the self-appointed custodians of Pakistan’s ideology, power-hungry politicians and the belligerent bureaucracy ( yes the one you addressed as the “servants of the nation”) are doing with Pakistan. Hardly anyone is doing what you asked them to do. The Christians are not free to go to their church, nor the Hindus to their temples or Parsis or Ahmadis to their mosques for that matter. But I dont think its a religious thing or anything. Because practically no one is free to go anywhere or do anything. Race, religion, faith and creed are merely excuses for this pitiless butchery. There is too much noise lately about whether you wanted Pakistan to be a secular state or an Islamic Republic. Please dispatch a message soon clarifying your stance and what you meant by “preserving Muslim ideology” before we kill each other over this debate and save us from the sold-out Westernised liberal fascism that the left-winged-Zia-hating-foreign-national pseudo liberals who think they are the ultimate arbiters of good taste and enlightenment are trying to impose on us or the highly manipulated version of Shariah that some bearded Mullahs have customized to their own personal tastes as if theyve confused the beautifully balanced Islamic jurisdiction with making an omelette. One tablespoon of fanaticism, a little bit of bigotry and hypocrisy and a few drops of murtads blood and WalAH! Ready-made, custom-built Shariah is ready! By the way, the liberals hate you for separating us from our Indian buddies. Im not naming any names but you would have to take my word for it. Women are having the hardest time perhaps. You dont realize this if you take things at facevalue but its there somewhere, hiding beneath the floorboards, in the closet like Frankenstein, that deep seated misogyny disguised as religious conservatism. Any woman who wishes to live like a full human being intimidates the army of the status quo and hence she is treated like a dirty joke. (Inspired from a quotation.) In short unity is replaced by sectarianism, faith by self-righteousness and discipline by hocus-pocus. But the good thing is that we all still love you – deeply, dearly and profoundly! We love you for what you are, for what you did and for what you left us with. I cant say much about my fellow countrymen but I swear (and secretly confess) that I wish I was more like you with each passing day. Send me your blessings and wish me luck! Say Salam to Iqbal. With Love and Immense Respect Hadia From Pakistan...your Pakistan. :)
