Dear Mr. Key, It saddens me that you would lump me and the union I am part of as a branch of the Labour Party. Personally I have never voted Labour, or any party on the left of the spectrum for that matter. What I do, however, is care about are the children I teach. I work with excellent teachers who are passionate about their jobs and the difference the make to the lives of their students. Your partys policy of pledging $359million to paying a certain grade of teacher/principal is flawed. It will not provide out students with more success; it will simply drive a wedge between the amazing practice that currently goes on in our schools. If it was going to provide change, we would all be taking part in the money scramble you are offering. Please consider our voices as we oppose this policy. We are on the front line of education. We see daily the faces of New Zealands future: the doctors, lawyers, nurses, technicians, teachers... And even the faces of those whose jobs havent yet been invented. We want the best for our children, and throwing millions of dollars at paying teachers more isnt whats best for them. Kind regards, Tim de Vries
