Dear Mr. Kumar, Greetings from Jet Airways. I refer to your travel from Srinagar to Jammu by flight S2 4108 of June 07th, 2013. We are concerned to note your feedback with regard to your checked-in-baggage when you travelled on the above mentioned flight. In reference to your below e-mail we would like to advise that airline will not liable for any claims for missing valuables, cash that are carried in the checked-in baggage unless the same is declared by the passenger when he / she checks in. Apart from the Carriage by Air Act, 1972 as extended to say we draw your attention to our ticket condition advising passengers to keep all their valuables in their hand baggage and not in their checked-in luggage. Further as per law, which is also recorded in the ticket conditions, you could have declared a special value for your baggage and paid extra-charges for such declaration at the time of check-in. Had such declaration been made, you would have been entitled to claim compensation beyond the above specified limits. Please allow me to assure you that while utmost care is taken by our staff while handling baggage, for any damage established as wear and tear, we regret our inability to assume liability. As communicated at the Airport locks and protruding parts damaged by the airport conveyor belt system, normal handling, scratches, dents, missing clips, wheels and handles are categorized as wear and tear for which no Damage Report can be raised. Despite our enquiry with our Srinagar and Jammu staff on duty, no irregularity with regard to the baggage handling process was established. Nevertheless, please be assured that we have taken note of your comments and have shared your experience with our Security Division for strengthening the vigilance of the baggage handling process further at the concerned stations.
