Dear Mr. President, I understand based on your own words that you do not understand or believe in American Exceptionalism, but in its simplest form it means that the ends do not justify the means. In America it matters how you played the game, see the terrible rules of engagement our troops fight under. Just look at the times we have punished our troops not for what they did, but for how they did it. You may feel you have done whats best here, but that is not your job. Being a self described Constitutional scholar I would expect you to know and understand that the Presidents job is to discharge and carry out the laws of the land. It is not to enforce the laws one likes and to ignore the ones you disagree with. You have said on many occasions that what you have proposed tonight should never happen. You have gone so far as to enumerate the many reasons this is wrong. Is it only wrong when youre trying to get elected and you can use it as an excuse for a lack of action on your part? You sir owe us an explanation as to why you think you can do as you please. You condemned the very action you have taken during your Presidency and while a Senator you condemned the sitting President for the same. What changed Mr. President? What was your pivot point? When did the American people you serve vote to expand your powers? Forgive my ignorance as I am not aware of passing any Constitutional amendments in the last few years. You sir owe the American people more respect than this! Let me be clear, you seem to have forgotten that you serve at Americas pleasure and We The People have laid out your role in our Constitution. If you find yourself incapable governing within this framework then please do not let the door hit you on your way our.
