Dear NGEMC..I applaud your efforts to be proactive with your infrastructure...clearing power lanes along roads to prevent storm damage, outages, etc. But I have to ask...along Swanson road starting in the s-curves where you recently replaced poles...was it really necessary to spray untold amounts of foliage killing chemicals to achieve this? At every pole there is a huge dead brown area surrounding it...and a stretch where you replaced multiple poles, theres a 200 yd long ugly, dead, brown stretch along what is normally a scenic, pretty little stretch of road. Wouldnt a guy with some clippers and a weed eater been just as cost effective as spraying all those chemicals? And what was the spray, by the way? How safe is it for people and wildlife who both walk this road? There seemed to have been an inordinate amount used so close to S. Chickamauga Creek...where I, and countless others enjoy what it has to offer. Lots of gulleys and run off pathways for whatever goop you used to make its way to the creek. Im not an enviro-whacko (well, maybe I am) but this didnt seem to be at all environmentally conscious.
