Dear Neo-Atheist acquaintances (I cannot call any of you friends - TopicsExpress

Dear Neo-Atheist acquaintances (I cannot call any of you friends because using your standard of empirical scientific evidence, I am reasonably certain that there is no way to prove that friends even exist beyond our imaginations) I want to thank you for your input over the years. Mostly I want to thank you because my interactions with you have reminded me of how I used to be, and how grateful that I am not like that (at least not as much) any more. Partly because of your relentless attacks I am more confident and joyous than ever in my faith, so I partly owe that to you. Yes, God has used you in my life (even though you have no way to know it) for growth, joy, and a sense of wonder (among other things). You have helped me to review my beliefs (which I do anyway without you) and think a bit more about my positions, although I have to admit some of the stuff you put out there comes across as a bit juvenile, shallow, and frankly mean (whatever strokes your ego, I guess) I am grateful that I was a Sagan atheist and not a Tyson atheist, because Tyson makes Sagan look polite. I am grateful that I was an atheist before Dawkins, Harris and Hitchens became millionaires selling their ideas to people like you (and/or went on into meaningless eternal nothingness - depending on when this is being read). Thank you all, from the bottom of my cerebral cortex. Anyway, I hope you find whatever it is you think that you are looking for, which the best I can tell after suffering through hours of your bloviaing is proof that nothing really matters (like in the song by Queen). If its any consolation, remember this, we are really not that different. You dont think anyone gets to heaven, and I know that most people dont. Its okay, at least one of us is right, and maybe one of us is a little more right than the other. Anyway, thanks again. Thank you for letting God use you like that. Its really been a rewarding experience. For me at least, and I hope in some small way, for you. I am attaching a handy reference guide, and outline, for those really new and aspiring atheists who want to be all that they can be. I made it myself so dont expect too much, but I hope you find it helpful in some small way.
