Dear News That Spits Out Faster Than My Brain Can Process It All, There has been many events that have occurred, not only throughout the summer, but the one month of August has been, and excuse my vulgar take on this, but the medias wet dream. For all this, I shall list the word according to Lola, in know particular timeline order whatsoever... 1) ALS Ice bucket challenge: I was always a bit aware of ALS, but the awareness of it on such a heavily mass media level, has made me research further into it, and realize how many have been sadly affected. PROS: Alot of money has been raised to help the fight against this disease, and I dig all that. People from all walks of life, are participating in one event for an important cause. CONS: Wasting of water. THE WORD: no matter how annoying it maybe to some or passe after awhile, we as society it seems, need a gimmick to catch our eyes which therefore will eventually trigger our ears and hearts to open. There are many diseases out there, that also need to be in the forefront, and apparently these days, its gonna take more to entice people than just simply asking for them to take out their checkbook. Strait up! 2)Israel/Palestine: You know this war should just be called Leaders acting like ethnocentric toddlers. Taking their disagreements out upon each others citizens, instead of themselves War. PROS: Reallly???!!?? None at all, unless your into unnecessary bloodshed, and politics mixed with religion, is what is put over HUMANITARIANISM. No, Thank You. CONS: Everything. THE WORD: No bueno 3) Ferguson/Michael Brown: First off, I would like to give my condolences to the family of Michael. A sudden tragedy like this is hard to get past. Also, im assuming it hasnt been that easy for them to properly mourn, considering all the societal and media frenzy that his death has sparked nationwide. Secondly, considering the history of America, and how some of us seem to be surprised when such a Pandora box gets opened...I give you but one equation...Unarmed + Young Black Male + Avoidable/Unlawful Shooting by a White Officer= Riotts!!! PROS: The discussion of racial profiling is in the air CONS: The discussion of racial profiling is in the air, Again. THE WORD: Ignorance is a step backwards. 4)Robin Williams: R.I.P., my dear Mork. You were a great actor and entertainer to us all. PROS: The talks of how severely intense depression can be, is discussed more openly, as to find ways to help someone. CONS: Comments by Henry Rollins, in regards to this incident. Are you kidding me??!! It hasnt even been a bit since Williams passed, we are still in August, and your ass decided that calling him selfish for suicide was appropriate??!! Next time, think with your mind/heart, and not your overextended ego, guy. THE WORD: Nanu nanu :( .... And Last, but not least, 5)HELLO KITTY: PROS: Hello Kitty is not really a cat, and were all still alive. YAY!! CONS: This is news. This is Lola Johnson, and... Thats whats up!
