Dear Parishioners and Friends, I wish to share with you this important communication from His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh (see below) about the recent decision to close down our Three Hierarchs Eastern Orthodox School (T.H.E.O.S.) in Heidelberg, PA. It is a sad moment in the life of our Metropolis, but we pray that the Lord God will bless all future endeavors to build upon the tremendous work cultivated by so many clergy and laity over the past several years. ---------- Dear T.H.E.O.S. Families, "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (Corinthians 13:13) It is with deep sadness that we grieve the closing of Three Hierarchs Eastern Orthodox School (T.H.E.O.S.), but it is with abundant joy, that our hearts will remain forever open to the love of Christ which was and has always been, the foundation of our school. We praise God for the countless blessings that have come from 15 years of "educating the whole child for a holy life". The educational, spiritual and personal rewards that have stemmed from being part of such an amazing ministry are immeasurable. In the face of financial hardships, critically decreased enrollment and inadequate critical support, it became no longer feasible for T.H.E.O.S. to remain operational and fulfill its mission to provide high quality education in an orthodox environment. We humbly thank you for your belief in T.H.E.O.S. over the past 15 years and hope and pray that God will continue to bless and guide all our former T.H.E.O.S. students, alumni, benefactors, clergy, friends and families as we work to understand and accept this reality. “The Lord does not look so much at the magnitude of anything we do," it has been said, "as at the love with which we do it.” We know that God has seen many great and small acts of love at T.H.E.O.S. We give thanks to each and every student, parent, teacher, clergyman, volunteer, staff member, administrator, hierarch and supporter for helping us to achieve our goal of nurturing the sacred innocence and dignity of each child who was blessed to pass through our hallways. The memories of the faith we shared, the fun we had and the fellowships we created at T.H.E.O.S. will never cease to exist. With abiding faith, hope and love, The T.H.E.O.S.
