Dear Pittsburgh Penguins, I dont mean to interrupt whatever it is youre doing, but I thought someone should let you know that the playoffs have begun. Thats why you had to play the Blue Jackets all those games in a row over the past couple weeks. To catch you up even further, youve somehow made it to Round 2 against (thankfully) the Rangers. Youve now spotted them a game because you left your defense somewhere around the 63rd game of the regular season. Please see if you can retrieve it before this really gets ugly. If I may, Id like to make a couple suggestions...please take them for what its worth (which is nothing, as Im just a guitar playing car salesman writing a letter to a bunch of millionaires who will never even read this)... 1. Ollie Matta killed it for us in the regular season, but it seems to me that NHL Playoff hockey is too much for him at this stage of puberty. Please get Derrek Engelland in the mix ASAP as he was a stud for the team this year and can do nothing but help at this point. Make Matta a scratch tomorrow. 2. The Captain needs to have a heart to heart with the owner and figure out wtf is wrong. The owner was a player who knew how to rally a team when he donned the C. The current Captain must lead by example and get on the board. Take charge and make it happen. If you cant get on the board, then drop the gloves. Do something to show some leadership. 3. Most important...wake up. Its the NHL playoffs. The most exciting sporting event in sports, every year and youre missing it. Please show some heart and grit and passion and intensity. You guys are displaying the white hot intensity of a thousand dandelions. Hit. Shoot. Fly. Fight. Get into it already. If this ends sooner than it should, I hate to say it, but it just may be time to rethink a few things. There is no reason this team shouldnt be in the Cup Finals. But for now Id settle for at least looking like theyre into it. Prediction: Pens in 6.
