Dear President Noynoy Aquino, Having stumbled upon the rankings - TopicsExpress

Dear President Noynoy Aquino, Having stumbled upon the rankings of overpopulated countries in 2013, (cia.gov) it greatly alarms me to learn that the Philippines ranks twelfth out of 196 countries in the world. With a land area of approximately 300,000 sq. km., the state is incapable of accommodating 105,720,644 people. Personally, I think this is the reason why there are a lot of homeless and sick people in the country. The government is unable to provide shelter, food and health care for all poverty-stricken Filipinos. Poor people are impelled to live along the streets and unhealthy slums, which are roots of various diseases. Though there are government programs and agencies that try to aid overpopulation, the number continues to rise every year. The Philippine Family Planning Program has four guiding principles, namely: responsible parenthood, respect for life, birth spacing, and informed choice (popcom6.ph/). These points to abide by would be really effective if strictly complied with. From where I stand, I do not think that the government focuses much on the effects of overpopulation in the country. I believe that if the government prioritized family planning for the underprivileged, it would be a great helping hand. This simple course of action would lead to other issues that overpopulation is associated with; issues such as insufficiency of homes, food, and health care, as mentioned earlier. It will serve as a stepping-stone to a better future. Sincerely, Mia Franchesca M. Luna
