Dear President, We urge you not to act upon the Union governments recommendation to appoint Mrs Sheila Dikshit, who was defeated in the Delhi Assembly elections, as Governor of Kerala. Mr. Nikhil Kumar, who was appointed Governor of Nagaland after he lost the Lok Sabha election in 2009 and was later shifted as Governor of Kerala, has resigned to try his luck at the polls once again. We resent the use of the Thiruvananthapuram Raj Bhavan as a rehabilitation centre for defeated politicians. The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections, and the model code of conduct has come into force. The Union government, which has run out of its mandate, should not proceed with fresh political appointments at this time. It must leave it to the government to be formed after the parliamentary elections to fill the Raj Bhavam vacancy. We realize that the Governors post cannot be left vacant. The constitutional requirements can be met by giving the Governor of the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu additional charge of Kerala, for the time being. Thanking you, Yours faithfully
