Dear: Professional Artists, Just sharing some thoughts. We all - TopicsExpress

Dear: Professional Artists, Just sharing some thoughts. We all want to be respected, recognized, acknowledged, given credit, paid and even rewarded these days. I dont think thats a bad thing, specially when you work hard, have lots of experience and many accomplishments under your belt, nonetheless I am a firm believer that when these things come naturally and genuinely from others its far more notable and honorable than when it is demanded. Humble is loosely thrown around in the music and dance industry. I say professionals and aspiring professionals alike should refrain from using it unless they are referring to someone other than themselves. Isnt it a little contracting to call oneself humble? Humility has become a very misused and misunderstood term. In order to understand it better we should first clarify what it is not. Humility is not being quite and doing/saying nothing. Instead, humility is resisting the desire to always be right. It is also the resistance of condescending others when we can easily surpass them. Humility is also abstaining exercising one’s giftedness in a way that makes others appear smaller but rather practicing it for the love of the art in a semi-selfless way.
