Dear Randall, Here’s an easy way to help millions of hard-working Americans get ahead: give them a tax cut. Sounds simple, right? Well, that’s because it is. I’ve introduced a bill called the Working Families Tax Relief Act, and it does exactly what the title says it does. The bill would put money back in the pockets of working people by strengthening and expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, strengthening the Child Tax Credit, and eliminating the marriage penalty. Workers deserve this, and I need your help to make it happen. Add your name to our petition supporting the Working Families Tax Relief Act. This is something Democrats have supported for a long time -- and actually, Republicans have too. Paul Ryan himself said the Earned Income Tax Credit helps workers “take ownership of their lives.” And President Ronald Reagan called the bill that expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit “the best antipoverty, the best pro-family, the best job creation measure to come out of Congress.” The Working Families Tax Relief Act is good politics and even better policy. It enjoys broad support across both parties, and I don’t have to tell you how rare that is in Washington right now. With your help, we’ll make this happen.
