Dear Residents: Because of the approaching severe subfreezing - TopicsExpress

Dear Residents: Because of the approaching severe subfreezing weather and large amounts of snow coming our way, we ask that you please review the following information. Taking the time to read this will give you a good understanding of how we can all work together and get through this storm successfully, and any other ones that may come our way this season. PREVENTING WATER PIPES FROM BURSTING: 1. With the temperatures below zero currently and through this next week, the water pipes in our apartment community could potentially freeze and burst if we do not take immediate action. The damage from frozen pipes can be substantial. If the pipes in your dwelling unit freeze and burst, water may damage your clothes, furniture, electronics, TV and other property such as the carpet, walls and ceilings. You may be found liable to the resident below or adjacent to you if you have negligently failed to take proper precautions. This casualty insurance on the apartment owner’s building does not cover damages to the other people’s property. You are encouraged to buy insurance (like homeowners do) to cover unexpected damage from water, fire, windstorm, etc. to your personal belongings. 2. Please do not turn your heat completely off. Please have the heat on, at a minimum of 65 degree’s. Be sure to leave cabinet doors open under the sink and bathroom sink to allow heat to the plumbing. Flush toilets often! If you feel that your heat is not keeping up, you can switch it to “Emergency Heat.” If you have any questions about this, please call the office. 3. Please leave the faucets dripping a very slight drip during anytime that the temperature is 10 degrees or less until it comes back up. 4. Keep in mind, that if you are gone, management may enter your apartment for the above purposes in order to avoid potential property damage from burst water pipes as authorized in your lease agreement. We hope that everyone stays warm and safe in their cozy homes over the next several days and please contact us, as always if you need anything. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Have a great day, The Olde Towne Staff
