Dear Sally, May and HKDR Tai Po team and volunteers, I just wanted to share an update on Tessie, who we took home on December 21, 2013, and adopted 1 week later. This past weekend was the 6 month anniversary of her adoption! We celebrated by getting her a new dog collar, which she is sporting in the attached photos. Previously, she had been wearing the hand-me-down collars of our previous dog who passed away last August. I think wearing the old collar was like wearing a crown that gave her a lot of information - like where the best play areas are during our walk, which toy is best to play with, and which spot in the garden to dig and snuggle into on a hot day. However, Tessie definitely knew she had graduated when we put on her flashy new pink and blue collar (to match her purple HKDR dog tag which she continues to wear)! Tessie has blossomed and grown in confidence in these past 6 months. She has gone from being frightened and barking at everything (even a bird tweeting!) to owning the driveway and bushes around our house, making friends with other dogs, and relaxing and playing on our lawn. She sticks to me like glue as soon as I come home, following me everywhere and licking me constantly (I sometimes call her Kissie). She is even getting over her car fear and looking forward to drives, which means she gets to go somewhere different/interesting for walks. I think youll be so proud of Tessies progress!
