Dear Santa, I hope that you and the reindeer are well. As Lord Smith said that he was one of your little helpers, I thought that I would write to you directly, as his Commissions proposals currently have no legal standing nor guarantees that they will be implemented in any form. 2014 has been an interesting year. I moved from a position of supporting Devo Max to supporting Independence as a combined result of the positivity and hope of the Yes campaign and the negativity and fear of the No campaign. On 19 September I woke up and was surprised at how disappointed and empty I felt. The worst thing was the realisation that I lived in a country in which a majority appeared to lack the ambition or desire to govern their own affairs. However, rather than just complain I did not give up and have tried to effect change in small ways. For the first time in my life I have joined a political party and along with 68,000 others joined the SNP; I have stopped watching BBC News; and I have bought a daily newspaper (The National) for the first time in years. So, Santa, if I could have one gift it would be this. Please make the people of Scotland waken up in 2015, recognise the manner in which they have been continually and systematically let down by Westminster, have the confidence, ambition and desire to govern their own country and deliver a pro-Independence landslide in Scotland in the General Election in May 2015. With a mandate for another Referendum we would have the opportunity not only to create a better Scotland, but also to lead reform at Westminster for the benefit of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
