Dear Senator Ndoma Egba, I used to fall under the group of people who could be seen as your apologists. This is because of your brilliance and popularity. But as i grew up, i got to know you better. I have read from different blogs, national dallies and other facebook groups about your 4th term ambition in the upper legislative chambers. Your proponents are of the defense that you deserved a continuity because of your experience, adding that a fresher will relegate Cross River in the scheme of things. Others were of the opinion that Nigeria needed you most just as your colleagues David Mark and Ike Ekweremadu are endorsed by their senatorial districts for the 8th session of the national assembly. A friend even added that you are the only Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in the hallow chambers and could become a president of the senate if re-elected. Before i continue, i am aware that your huge appetite for power few years ago blinded your sense of reasoning which necessitated your support to President Olusegun Obasenjo for his 3rd term bid with the promise of making you a senate president, it was an action many Nigerians saw as insatiable desire for wealth which can be personified as one of the deadly sins on earth to support evil for personal gain and political recognition. Although i have since forgiven you as the bible says to forgive is divine But i have this few questions for you: Sir as a senate leader, where were you when 76 oil wells belonging to Cross River were confiscated by our sister state? Do you know this defeat and ugly development may question our membership as an oil producing state in Nigeria? Again, where were you when the oil rich Bakassi was seceded to Cameroon and hundreds of your people rendered homeless? How many Cross Riverians are beneficiaries of NDDC and the federal government scholarship? Sir, if your position can not influence the rehabilitation of the Ikom-Calabar federal Highway then you are not a good representative. You started as a fresher, and if your desire is to serve your people then you can contest as a ward Councillor or teach in the secondary school without payment, this are charity activities i will also like you to participate because God has been so kind to you and your family. What is the benefit of having a senate leader whose influence is not seen? Will you be bigger than the 2nd Republic senate president Joseph Wayas who was unable to influence the creation of Ogoja state even as one of the oldest province in Nigeria? Or which political influence saw Cross River South which was dominated by Akwa Ibomites hijacked the state political machinery? Honorable, your response to this letter may change peoples mind. But i have never seen any friend of mine or anybody who is a beneficiary of your stewardship in Ugep where you scored the highest votes, prove me wrong now! Yours Faithfully, Ofem Lekam.
