Dear St. A’s Families, As we approach the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord we call to mind Gods very own life and love. A life to overcome the death, a love to overpower and guide us away from love of self to the love of God. Happy New Year!!!! I hope this first newsletter of 2015 finds you happy, healthy and well rested. It is so wonderful to see the children return, excited and ready to learn! It is equally fun to see the faculty and staff re-energized and ready to teach! CRAB FEED!!!! Don’t forget to get your crab feed tickets. Our annual Crab Feed is always A LOT of fun. This year this fun event is on January 31 in the St. Apollinaris Parish Hall. Come by the office for tickets! If you are planning to enroll your child for St. A’s Transitional Kindergarten or St. A’s Kindergarten, or know someone who would like to come to St. As next year, please let us know as soon as possible. The 2015 / 2016 Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten only have a couple of spaces left. We have a waitlist for the majority of our other grades. Our official screening for Kindergarten only is next Wednesday, January 14. If you have not received an appointment for screening, please contact the office as soon as possible. National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2015 is January 25 - 31. Schools typically observe National Catholic Schools Week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. At St. A’s we will focus on the value of Catholic education provided to our students and their contributions to our school, church, our communities and our nation. St. A’s Catholic Schools Week begins with a celebratory Mass at 10:30am, January 25. Immediately following there will be a reception in the St. A’s Parish Hall. Please come by and celebrate our communities of faith, knowledge and service. Grandparents / Special Persons Day is Tuesday, January 27th, beginning at 10:30am. Mass will begin at 11am. This is always such a special day for the students to show their class and work to the special people in their lives. Thursday, January 29, from 6:30pm – 8pm is our “St. A’s Experience” Open House. This night is for all students, parents and prospective families to visit St. A’s. You will also get to check out our amazing Science Fair! Saturday, January 31, ends our week of celebration with the Crab Feed. Blessings, Connie Howard
