Dear Subculture Police A recent a recurring statement: Shes not punk, shes just a model followed by actually challenges to name various numbers of songs by a various array of punk bands. Heres an eye-opener for ya kids: When I name a hundred [insert punk band here] songs, that does not make me punk. When I hang out with the bands at underground punk fests, that does not make me punk. When I stud my vest till my fingers fall off, that does not make me punk. am i a punk? no. am i a metalhead? no. am i a goth? no. am i even a model? no. am i just a dumb girl who stands in front of the camera and goes to all types of shows and thinks youre a pissy, wet diaper whiner judging someones level of punk based on a photograph that no ones claiming punk in? yes. if youre worried enough to try to classify someone as real punk or fake punk than youre too worried about other people to even be punk yourself - you are a fashionista with a wedgie.
