Dear VHP Goons, The farmers who are committing suicide all over - TopicsExpress

Dear VHP Goons, The farmers who are committing suicide all over the country and particularly in Maharashtra are Hindus too. Never saw any demonstrations and protests against their deaths. Never saw any hooliganism against those who could have stopped these suicides. Never saw you say even once, Lets help these farmers. A movie hurts Hindu sentiments so badly that you create an uproar. But hundreds and thousands of farmer deaths are so useless that you dont even bother to shed a tear. May be because these farmers are mostly dalits, and your understanding of your own religion makes them lesser Hindus? Dont you see, VHP goons, that actions such as yours are producing more atheists than ever before? People have just had it, and because Hinduism provides a more liberal framework in terms of ideology and customs, you wont even be able to identify an atheist ex-Hindu in a crowd. I was a Hindu once, and the things I learned from my ex-religion include a tremendous amount of tolerance, which is why I dont believe most of you goons are even well-versed with the Hindu scriptures at all. I do get your point that you want to fight a battle of good versus evil, but did you really want to be seen as the evil in this battle? And VHP goons, can I tell you a story that would really burn your bums and give them rashes? When I was a kid and a Hindu, I still had respect for other religions and Gods. You know what I used to do as a child? I used to fold my hands and pray to Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Durga, Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati. Hanuman, Ram, Krishna, Allah, Jesus and Buddha! The beautiful concept of multiple Gods in my ex-religion made this mixing of inter-religious Gods possible. (Some people may call it blasphemy. Fair enough, go back in the past and kill the child me.) So when you spit venom about a movie that only questions religious evils and not the religions per se, I am really forced to wonder what kind of a primary education you guys had. On this note, I would wind up this letter and let you enjoy your New Years eve in peace (which is a western concept, by the way). Regards, Abhijit
