Dear Villagers, Emory Hall here ... With a full heart, I present to you Chapter Nine of our twelve-part interview series with Trevor. As a documentary filmmaker, whenever I am interviewing a person - whether they be a Burmese refugee living in exile in Thailand or a musician like Trevor Hall - I always attempt to enter into each interview without expectation or a desired outcome. Ive found that, in doing so, a beautiful process often unfolds in front of the camera. Within that process, layers are continually pulled back until eventually the camera, the microphone, the interviewer and the interviewee seem to not even exist anymore. In that space, hearts are opened and feelings are expressed in their most organic and genuine form. Those moments can be painful, they can be joyful, they can be both - but they are always intimate and never forced. After I shot this particular Chapter, I wondered whether Trevor would be comfortable with sharing it publicly with the rest of the world. As Trevors wife, I know how deeply special and private his spiritual life and practice is. Trevor, however, showed no reservation or hesitation when I began the process of editing this video. I was incredibly touched and inspired by this, as I do not know if I would have had the courage or strength to share a moment so raw and intimate with thousands of people. Not just as Trevors wife, but also as just another human being who has been comforted and healed by his music for years, I am continually impressed and awed by the strength and grace of Trevors spirit. That spirit is continually nourished and shaped by the landscape and culture of India - as we see in this Chapter, and in the others before it. If ever you have wondered how deep Trevors love for India goes, I feel that this particular interview speaks to that relationships depth. I feel honored to have been able to film these interviews.
