Dear Washington Technology Families, As you may have heard, a Washington Technology student was hit by a car while crossing Rice Street Monday, Oct. 25. We’re in contact with the family and are working to support them during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts as well. This incident is a serious reminder that Rice Street is busy and can be potentially dangerous. Please talk with your child about how to stay safe while walking to and from school: With winter approaching, there is less daylight in the morning and afternoon. Make sure drivers can see you. Walk on sidewalks or paths, and cross the street at intersections with traffic signals and crosswalks. Don’t use mobile devices or headphones so you can hear what’s happening around you. Look left, right and left again and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please call me at 651-293-8830. Sincerely, Mike McCollor, Principal Washington Technology Magnet School
