Dear Water Cities Families We, the volunteers that work on the WCSC Board of Directors, wanted to reach out to you, our membership, in regards to a possible merger between Water Cities Soccer Club and Oshkosh United. We indeed have had some very preliminary discussions with Oshkosh United on the issue of unifying our clubs and resources. However these discussions never progressed near an agreement on a proposed merger. We have a large amount of respect for Oshkosh United and we both agree that one club serving the Greater Oshkosh Area makes sense and is worth discussing, it is also wan idea neither club would ever rule out. However, it was the clear feeling of the WCSC board that any merger proposal must begin with the formation of a new club umbrella which would include a name and color change. Then both clubs could come together as one new club in an equal partnership. Truth is, this starting point was an unacceptable condition for Oshkosh United. This position, while disappointing to us, is one we fully respect. There is no merger between the two clubs to announce, nor one in the immediate future. It is business as usual, however both clubs would like to improve the working relationship with one another as we each continue to try and serve our membership to the best of our ability. For now WCSC’s goal remains the same, to provide an inclusive, localized club soccer choice for youth players while always striving to keep participation costs low. At the end of the day we are here to serve the players in our club, we value your feedback and opinions. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] with any comments or concerns you may have. Sincerely WCSC Board of Directors
