Dear Zane, First off let me say I love your books. Im a 25 year old female that moved to georgia to be with a female yes im gay. Things didnt work out and her mom kicked me out and I have been staying in a homeless shelter and they have been providing me with a place to stay and I have been helping but now the lady that runs the place thinks its best for me to go back home. Thats the problem me and my mom dont have a great relationship I know I have done some messed up things to her and my family. She said I could move back home and stay there for a couple months which is fine with me I plan to start looking for a job. But everytime I call her and tell her the day I want to come home she gives me an excuse. Really could use your motherly advice. MY RESPONSE: I am not sure where back home is but everything happens for a reason. Have you tried looking for a job there in Georgia and trying to figure out a way to actually remain there and not only survive but thrive. If you have done some messed up things, they may be fretful of what it will be like to have you back, even though she is not completely turning her back on you. At 25, what would you do if you no longer had a mother? A lot of young people your age have no parents and they make it. My point is while you are working on your mothers forgiveness and good grace, even if you move back, you need to get a game plan together to be self-sufficient. It sounds like you went from your family home to your lovers mothers house. You need your own place, whether it is in Georgia or anywhere else. They do not own the state of Georgia so why should you have to leave. The good part is that it is just you that you need to be responsible for. I would put on my big girl panties and make it happen, especially if the cost of living in Georgia is cheaper than where you come from. Good luck.
