Dear cop who didnt want to work at a Pride parade, baker who didnt want to bake a cake, florist who didnt want to make a flower arrangement, and the rest of the folks who are uncomfortable providing service for members of the LGBT community. Im sorry. Im sorry that you are doing a job that puts you in contact and has you provide services to people who make you uncomfortable without anyone first explaining to you that this is how the world works and that this is what a job is all about. That should have been covered at home and if not there in elementary school when you learned about fire fighters and doctors and teachers. Since you missed learning about this, please allow me to tell you about a few other groups of people that you may be asked to provide service to, or in some cases to protect if that is the nature of your job, that might make you uncomfortable: Asian-Americans, Muslims, Blondes, Left-Handers, Cancer Patients, Progressives, People with low IQs, People with really, really low IQs, Artists, Socialists, Republicans, Blacks, Jews, People with MS, People with Cerebral Palsy, Red Heads, People who dont floss, People who hate dogs, People who live in trailers, the homeless, Pagans, Celine Dion fans, People with blue eyes, Scientologists, Mensa members, Libertarians, Pacific Islanders, Math Teachers, Scientists, Creationists, People with unibrows and folks who stutter. If this is going to be an issue, perhaps a career that doesnt involve engaging with the public would be a better option. Again, Im sorry no one at home or a teacher told you about this. Life is full of surprises, isnt it?
