Dear family and friends, I want to make it clear that this deal that BC teachers are being asked to approve is not a good deal. It is not fair to teachers or to students. Unfortunately, it has been made clear that BC as a province does not highly value education and we simply have to accept that stance. It saddens me to know that things have to get really bad before people start to care. No matter the outcome, my colleagues and I will pour our hearts and souls into our jobs despite all of this. We are natural gluttons for punishment. If you even sort of value education, I beg you to get involved to help us fill the cracks. Support students. Support PAC committees. Help address the harmful inequality of a system that puts the burden on parents and teachers. This deal really sucks. Especially for some of BCs most needy communities.
