Dear family, friends, co-workers, & customers: I write to you today with a heavy heart. Brian and I were hoping to announce our adoption to the world today, but instead we are sharing a loss. After meeting the birth father, he decided after harsh criticism, that Brian Steinlage and I were not good enough to adopt the baby and decided to parent his child instead. We are absolutely crushed and for lack of a better way to explain it, feel we are mourning the loss of our child....that never really was ours. As many of you know, we have been trying for just over 5 years to start a family, went through several rounds of fertility treatments, turned our lives upside down so that I could reduce stress at the suggestion of our physician and possibly conceive naturally. We dont regret any of those decisions. But, when this opportunity arose and felt too good to be true, we thought maybe, just maybe, this was why we have worked so hard! We know God has a perfect plan for us, and we pray that it becomes apparent because right now we feel continually passed over for this blessing. We ask that you pray for us. We will continue to save and fundraise the money necessary (which has now doubled to $40,000)to find another birth couple. So many of you have been super supportive along the way, generously giving hugs, promising love for our future family, and offers of financial assistance. We want to thank you as these gestures are invaluable to us a inspire us to keep trying.
