Dear followers, many of you will have seen the recent image of a mule that collapsed at the side of the 125, probably viewed by many visitors to the Algarve travelling to Faro airport. I am sure, like us, you found that image extremely distressing. Sadly help arrived too late for that poor soul and he was put to sleep by the Municipal vet at the side of the road, a sad end for an animal that has probably provided a lifetime of service and put food on his masters table. If, like us, you are angry, ashamed and disgusted at a society that allows this to happen to their animals, and also allows the perpetrators of such misery to go unpunished you must act. Lobby your government, complain locally, shame your local SEPNA or Municipal Vet if they refuse to help an animal in distress, and most of all ask questions of them. WHO has a duty to these animals? Who has a duty to prosecute their abusers? WHY is this not happening? We, all of us who care and are compassionate, have a voice, every single one of us, we all want to live in a community where we can be proud of how we treat our fellow human beings and our animals, we all want to teach our children that to harm another living creature is wrong and we ALL have a responsibility to SPEAK UP and not accept what is happening on a daily basis under our own noses. RIP little mule, you did not deserve such an undignified end :-(
