Dear friends A new project has launched called artpilgrim.org It is called this to represent the varied journey we go on to find the pearl of the sacred and to bring it back to the human community to inspire and enlighten. Early in the new year in the UK I will be teaching a workshop in creativity, world-building and the craft of oil painting near London with Judith Way. After teaching mischtechnik in Bali, Australia, Thailand and Italy, I am especially happy to share in my homelands. For 6 days our group will explore the principles involved in the methods and materials of oil painting, with the aim of learning sound and empowering principles from which to create a sacred art. We will be looking at methods of bringing forth a world through the marriage of poetry/narrative with symbol/vision. We will look into grounds such as wood, claybord, copper and canvas, varieties of painting medium, making our own paint, understanding pigments and dyes, drybrush, glazing, stippling, and exploring old masters and new, visionary fore-bearers of sacred imagery. We will be working in a warm bright studio and inexpensive accommodation is available for the duration of the course. It is the distillation of a lot of my own work with living masters and research from old masters, as well as the crystallization of personal approaches and philosophy to art.
