Dear friends. Allow me to add my voice to this issue of tribalism. I am comforted by the fact that we call ourselves Christians in a Christian nation. If truly we are what we confess then take time to read Galatians 3:26-28. ......there is neither Jew nor Greek.....we are all one in Christ Jesus. What we are saying against each other is detrimental to the development of this country; let alone our children being caught in the cross fire of tribal sentiments. Those who have intermarried what are u going to do with your children. For instance for watever reason I have observed an increase in intermarriages involving Bembas and Tongas. Tonga women are increasingly getting married to Bembas or atleast someone from Luapula, Northen, Muchinga and Copperbelt Provinces. Does it mean these people are only good for marriage and not for governance or political office. I am calling upon all well meaning Zambians to condemn tribalism from all angles. there is no tribe that is perfect, we all have defects and strengths in one way or another. The good news is that Jesus is perfecting us so that in the end he will present to himself a bride (the church) without blemish. Jesus is impartial. If we are truly his followers we will also exercise impartiality. Lets be objective in making choices. our choices should be based on merit and the leading of the Holy Spirit and not tribal grounds. Every citizen of Zambia has a responsibility to take care of this country. Pls dont destroy it. Social media should be used to promote unity and not to divide us. Infact you have to get on public transport and public places as well as social media to realise that it is a certain group of tribes that have ganged up against one tribe. What they say suggests so. Infact if not checked they are likely to become more tribalistic than the one tribe they re condemning. It was so with the Jews and the gentiles until Jesus came and challenged the hostility. We can do the same. I challenge people perpetuating tribalism within and outside my tribe to stop. Lets love one another. I salute all the well meaning Zambians and the friends I have across tribes.
