Dear friends, Im one of Homers humans. I have the sad duty to tell you that Homer passed away last Sunday. I should have told you sooner, but, frankly, weve just been too brokenhearted to do it. Homer started having trouble with his front leg in June and his doctor thought it was arthritis, but then three weeks ago he lost use of his back legs and soon other symptoms came crashing down on our beloved friend. In the end, it appears that he had a fast-moving cancer. While we tried everything we could and managed his pain carefully, with the help of his wonderful doctor, it became obvious that he couldnt take any more of this. We just want to say how much we have enjoyed sharing his life with all of you. Thank you for your friendship. Homer was far too young to say good-bye to what we hope was a really happy life, and, in typical pug fashion, he leaves an awfully big space in our own lives. We feel like a light has gone out in our home. At first we thought we could never take the risk of going through this again with another dog, even though we love dogs so much and have had them in our lives for many years. But after much thought we have come around to the idea of someday adopting a grown-up pug who really needs a loving home and might like to be part of our pack. For now, I am going to leave Homers page here as a celebration of a fantastic dog and a true friend. Perhaps we should use this space to celebrate news of pugs everywhere and maybe particularly pug rescue organizations. Please keep in touch.
