Dear friends and relatives, A friend of mine wrote me to tell me of the plight of his stepson. He came to a high school through a student foreign exchange program and was placed near Philadelphia. The placement is terrible. The school is unwelcoming and terrible. His host home is with a single man who has back problems and sits and watches TV all the time. The boy has not been able to make friends. This young man is 15, Spanish from Mallorca, and is quite a musical talent. He plays Viola, guitar, and piano. His name is Liam, and hes a good student and a good kid. All he wants is to be in a school and in a family. He speaks English well. My friend said that if they could find another host family, they would talk to the organization (I dont know the name of the organization yet) to see about switching his placement. His stepfather is a physician on Mallorca, and was here in San Diego in the 60s for a program called Operation Amigo. He stayed with us in our home. If you know of anyone, or can re-post this to get the word out, Id appreciate it. The placement would be for this school year. Thank you for any consideration or help you can give on this. I dream of him going to a great high school like Mission Hills, San Marcos High School, or La Costa Canyon.
