Dear friends around the world, I would like to share my recent thoughts and feeling (Its a bit long, but very important). These days the citizens of Israel are forced to fight against terror organization and to stand in the struggle for their existence. This terror organisation, known as the Hamas, sees no mercy nor does not respect basic human rights. Their only goal is to destroy Israel. For all of those who don’t know me well, I am a reserve IDF officer and a commander and a third generations of farmers that live and work 7 miles from Gaza strip. In last nine years, the constant bombing of missiles from Gaza to Israel became our daily routine. Moreover, recently a new threat had been reviled, underground tunnels that aimed to stock up on more missiles and execute terror attacks deep inside the borders of Israel. Now, try to put yourself in this reality, imagine yourself trying to have a normal and peaceful life when in every single moment 24/7 you can hit by rockets or be killed by ‘Shahid’ coming out of a tunnel in your backyard. I truly struggle to believe that anyone will accept this sort of reality. Therefore, a protective operation in Gaza strip is the only way out. Over the years, the Hamas terror organization, had developed a sophisticated anti-Israel PR system, including the use the international media to spread fake images of wounded and killed civilians (taken in places like Syria). Instead, the international media should show the real face of the Hamas. It is based on corrupted leaders that use innocent Palestinians, including children, women and elderly as human shields. An organisation that instead developing its area by building hospitals, schools and houses invests in making those elaborated and sophisticated cement tunnels which cost millions. The Hamas has a strong motivation to fight within urban areas. Firstly, this approach might prevent the attach of IDF. Secondly, the death of the civilians will be then used for their original PR plan. As such and very unfortunately this leads to the death of many innocent civilians Our heart goes out to every innocent casualty in this ugly war. Indeed, the IDF is constantly trying to minimise those losses by providing a notice prior the attack and avoiding the attack of vital targets with present innocent civilians. As an officer I am familiar with these commands, which are based on the values of the IDF. Trust me IDF might be the most moral army in the world. Back in the days, the majority of the employees in the farms of my village were Palestinians from Gaza strip; back then we used to live in peace and almost as one big family. Unfortunately, as the situation got worse they have stopped to come to work. Despite it I kept trying to establish a cooperate with Palestinians farmers. I believe that once we manage to eliminate this terror threat, economical solution will be the basis for real peace as it used to be prior the Hamas. Yesterday I spoke with my colleague from Gaza. He described the current situation as following, while the Hamas leaders are hiding in bonkers they force by threatening the citizens to remain in their houses despite the combat. In addition, he said that the majority of the Gaza population has strong hate feelings towards the Hamas mainly because, initially they promised them peace and quiet life but did the exact opposite. Even my friend agrees that Israel has the right to defend its civilians and that perhaps the IDF fights for the Palestinians as well. The Hamas is destroying any chance for peace, and brings casualties from both sides. In the history of the Jewish people, we survived many wars and several attempts to be destroy. Today, thanks to our experience, technology, faith and of course the human strength, we are stronger than ever. Indeed, I believe after this operation is fully justified and for the sake of both Israelis and Palestine’s we need to collaborate for our coexistence!!! May quiet and peaceful days will come.
