Dear friends in the Justice Committee, Greetings - TopicsExpress

Dear friends in the Justice Committee, Greetings everyone! Erwianas arrival this afternoon together with her father, her lawyer from Indonesia and two other companions who have been with Erwiana since the very beginning should have created a positive condition for the quest for justice to prosper. However, the maneuvering of the Indonesian consulate to keep Erwiana from members of the J4EMDW makes the sincerity of the Indonesian government to assist Erwiana highly-questionable. Despite Erwianas request to adhere to the arrangements made by the Mission for Migrant Workers, the group she authorized right from the start to coordinate on her case, the Indonesian consulate has forced Erwiana and company to stay in the consulate for the unfounded and unclear reason of security. This is a clear violation of her rights and liberties. We are very much worried of the agenda of the Indonesian government with the actions they took today such as not giving an opportunity for the J4EMDW members in the airport to meet Erwiana immediately and leaving Erwianas female companions in the holding room of the Immigration Department. While they say that they are supportive of Erwiana, whether they really want justice for Erwiana and for all migrant domestic workers facing abuses is highly-suspect. Thus we invite you to an urgent protest actions to condemn the Indonesian government through the Indonesian Consulate General for their high-handedness and doublespeak in the handling of Erwiana’s visit to Hong Kong. We shall demand for the Indonesian government to respect the rights of Erwiana. The details of the action are: WHAT: Protest Action against Indonesian consulates violation of Erwianas rights WHEN: 08 April 2014, Tuesday, 10:00AM WHERE: Indonesian Consulate General 127-129 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay If you have questions, please contact Sring (69926878), Eni (96081475) or Eman (97585935). We hope that you can come to this urgent and important action. In solidarity, Sring
