Dear friends, terrible news have been announced today in Mexico, regarding the disappearance of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa, Guerrero. It appears they were murdered and then calcined and buried in a landfill by local police and a cartel group (the bodies were not intended to serve as a message, but to be completely destroyed and made untraceable). This has been one of the most severe political crisis in recent history in Mexico, and one of the most painful and gruesome display of violence by the mexican authorities and their allegedly narco cartel allies. This investigation has taken 40 days approximately, in which many other mass graves and corpses not related with this case have been found. The mexican society and people form all over the world are extremely angered and outraged, even more so now that this announcement has been made. I will try to post more info in English through this post. ----- There is a mass grave (in a landfill) with human remains. There are testimonies, reconstruction of facts, etc, that the Federal Attorney General, Murillo Karam, says are proof that what have been found in the landfill in Cocula are the students remains. DNA recognition cannot be made, because they were calcined (samples will be sent to a laboratory in Innsbruck, but this will take time). There is no scientific truth or certainty. Right now the families of the disappeared are speaking, they do not believe what the government has said. They demand that agencies external to the government take lead on the investigation (the Argentine Forensic Team and the Inter-American Comission of Human Rights), and they are completely appalled kwowingPresident Peña Nieto has traveled to China to do business and participate in economic forum. They argue that the mexican government wants to close this case and make it appear as resolved so that their business and agenda is not affected by this.
