Dear friends, the crime that we have previously highlighted had been committed by some Tasar Charu. What in your opinion should be the ideal way to handle the situation in a mature manner? Here are the excerpts from todays news (Arunachal Times ) ITANAGAR, Jul 11: All Idu Mishmi Students Union and Lower Dibang Valley Students Union have informed that a mob assaulted student leader Unti Umbrey along with his two friends. The unions threatened to launch 24 hours bandh call demanding ‘immediate arrest of the culprits and strict procedures initiated as per Law’. The apathies on the part of the administrators of the capital regarding such negative incidents can only lead to the deterioration of various tribes faiths, a joint statement read. Condemning the attack, Lower Dibang Valley District Students Union has demanded for immediate arrest of the culprits involved. In a statement to the media, Ashomi Linggi, President, LDVDSU has warned of indefinite protests if the demand is not fulfilled. Our protests will not be confined to Lower Dibang Valley district. We will launch our agitation in Itanagar, said Linggi. Umbrey, who is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital in an FIR, said that upto 20 people barged into his rented apartment at 12.30 AM here on July 11 and attacked him with hockey sticks and a dao and also beat up two his friends while another one was locked up. Umbrey in the FIR has named atleast three people for the attack including one Tasar Charu who allegedly used a dao to attack him. Along with the victim, his room visitors Agori Mize and Ibom Riram were also physically assaulted. While the attack took place, Umbreys roommate Tapan Gap was locked in a separate room by the assailants, according to the FIR. Capital City Police Chief Seiju P Kuruvilla has said that a case has been registered and investigations are on. He said that no arrests have been made but alleged attackers have been identified.
