Dear friends wish you a very good morning! A salute to ISRO - TopicsExpress

Dear friends wish you a very good morning! A salute to ISRO scientists & congrats to fellow Indians on success of MOM! It is a stupendous achievement by every conceivable standard. The challenge starts from the moment 0 count down. To grasp the import fully,we can look at any mundane task we do, I mistype I retype, you can re-read. When rocket is launched there is no re doing it, one simply has to start from scratch & there in lies the great achievement of doing it in single attempt. I do not have cable TV/Set Top Box at home, so naturally I do not watch TV unless I am travelling. But yesterday I made a point to watch PMs speech to know what he will speak as this was not run of the mill speach. I was impressed with speech for 3 points he made, last one about cricket was rather obvious, but again it was not about Cricket game per say as I understood, it was about the perspective. Second one important point he made in my opinion was about his itenarary, seems scientists at ISRO were in two minds whether to call him or not if Mangalyan develops a glitch & fails to enter the Mars Orbital. He says when you succeed then everybody will congratulate you but I should be there when there is failure & hence I will travel to ISRO. Third and probably most important point he made was acknowledging the hard work of scientist all over the country & especially at ISRO of passing the baton, that one must prepare next generation & keep the knowledge, experience available to future. IMHO becoming expert or knowledgeable is practised by almost everybody in every sphere of life, but do we pass it on, even to our children? This was biggest take away for me from PMs speech. We start Hemant da & Mahendra Kapoor songs theme from today, I see many beautiful songs already posted :) PS: We have reached 5000 member mark today which also marks start of Navratri! I take this opportunity to wish all the members Happy Navratri! PPS: My landline NET is down & hence delay in note, just to prove how difficult the Mars mission was ;)
