Dear harpists and music lovers, It is that time of the year again: the season of Ceremony of Carols and mulled wine, and with it the end of our first term at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Our harp department, with students coming from Italy, France, Hong Kong, Switzerland and the UK have been busy with solo and chamber music concerts, orchestral projects at Trinity and around London, and a wonderful masterclass with Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche who also gave a heartwarming and deeply emotional solo recital. Frances Kelly will be with us in the spring, giving classes and lessons on specific historical performance practice and repertoire, and teaching students regularly. We are delighted that Solenn Grand has just won the audition for principal harp in Rio de Janeiro, and that she also won second prize (first not awarded) in Jugend Musiziert in Germany in November. 2015 will be a feast with a harp day that will be centred around a masterclass and solo recital with Marie-Pierre Langlamet on 15th February (please note that this a Sunday!) Miliau Fauré and it will be possible to work on and perform also chamber music for cello and harp. 25-29 August 2015 Italy, Saluzzo, Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento.
