Dear network members, I am a first year PhD candidate in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leeds. I am seeking theoretical guidance on an issue in terms of resources to look at on the following issue. Does a commitment to a decolonial perspective necessitate that one takes an anti-foundationalist or anti-essentialist approach to faith, given a suspicion of metanarratives in taking an anti-hegemonic stance? I ask because I worry that doing so vitiates decolonial agency at the same time if anti-foundationalism is seen as indiscriminate, affecting the subaltern and the hegemonic equally, acting as a universal acid.
