Dearest friends and loyal patrons, It is now 2015. In May, three years will have passed since we first stepped foot into Suite E at 1887 Main Street. In 2012 it was a blank slate. An empty room with smooth cement floors and impressively large doors. We took a drive along the Washougal River, following the gentle bends in the road, soaking up the afternoon sun and sitting in silent reflection. We knew that we had found our new home. In the days and months that followed we poured everything we had into bringing OurBar to life. We worked full-time, putting every penny we could aside. We picked the brains of other business owners. We wrote and re-wrote our business plan. We launched two successful, online crowd-sourced campaigns. We scoured the shelves of Goodwill, hand-picking each dish. We tested recipes, retracing our steps through the tastes of childhood. We built our tables and bar from scratch. In April of 2013, we opened our doors to the public. We quickly learned that running a business is a balancing act. It is a long-distance, endurance and agility course. It is anticipating and meeting the needs and wants of your community without compromising yourself or your vision. It is loving what you do down to every last detail. We embarked on this journey with hearts and doors wide open. We treat OurBar as if it were our home. Our customers are our family. We share cookbooks, conversations and celebrate major life events together, from birthdays to weddings. We work every day to bring freshness, creativity and integrity from our kitchen to your plate. In the past month, the strain of all our hard work has taken a toll on our physical and emotional health. We have let you, our beloved customers, down. Our inconsistent hours and sudden closures have caused frustration and maybe even doubt. But we are still here. In our heart, still burns the passion and love for what we do. In the spirit of the new year and new beginnings please accept this letter as an apology, explanation and resolution. We will take better care of ourselves. We will continue to communicate and be honest with you. We will keep growing and transforming as Washougal does. We will be here to nourish and inspire for many years to come. With love, respect and gratitude, Alex & Kevin
