Death has robbed us of yet another good leader, Phares Oluoch Kanindo. Kanindo is famous for having single handedly promoted Bengal artists locally and beyond borders. Artists like D. O. Misiani, Collela Mazee, Kasongo Meja, Ochieng Nelly, Otonde Kajonyo, Ogwang Lelo, Oguta Bobo, among many others sprang to fame courtesy of Kanindos P.O.K Productions. He served briefly as a broadcast engineer with VOK upon return from abroad where he had gone for studies under Jaramogis airlifts. Kanindo first contested the Homa Bay parliamentary seat in 1974 and made it to parliament in 1979. He was in the August house until 1988. In the last general elections, he vied for the Migori Senators post but lost. According to his son Pascal Kanindo, the veteran politician died on May 25, 2014 at Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu. Rest in peace, Galamoro, Orient Lelo owadgi Leah Ja Awe do.
