Debra J. Gordon Frank S. Dreaver... it depresses me to think that you are the only person keeping the issue of Leonard Peltier in the forefront. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debra J. Gordon Over one hundred years ago, a tract of land, a pig and a woman would become central to the Hatfield and McCoy’s feud; quite senseless if you were to ask me. Equally non-sensical is the WRONGFUL INCARCERATION of a man and subsequent systemic cover-up because of-- “…two FBI agents looking for a young Indian man wanted in connection of a stolen pair of cowboy boots!” Who would have ever thought a pair of boots would create such a firestorm—known today as the Leonard Peltier, wrongful incarceration debacle? These are the kind of cases that law students dissect in undergrad. Incident at Oglala, is a film produced and narrated by luminary filmmaker, Robert Redford and tells the story of unimaginable manufactured and convoluted evidence, coercion, exploitation of ethics, and misuse of power—against, one, LEONARD PELTIER who, was in 1972, wrongfully convicted of killing two FBI agents on an Indian reservation. This ‘story’ reeks, of everything gone wrong in our legal system and we must ‘fix’ this now. The evidence and facts provided in Redford’s film is overwhelming! It takes your breath away. Times were different back in 1972 but ‘railroading’ continues to this day… and I personally believe Mr. Peltiers railroading was done in retaliation for the not guilty verdict of Peltier’s two young Indian colleagues (in a separate but related legal case). WATCH Redford’s film, “Incident at Oglala” [on YouTube here: bit.ly/1nHMfyR] and please share. We have really got to fix the issue of wrongful convictions and the overt MISUSE OF POWER in the World. At issue here is integrity and how some have meandered off the course of what it means to be human. --by Debra J. Gordon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank S. Dreaver Thank you, Debra!, I have taught my head to never grow out of proportion and I couldnt dream of taking all of that credit! The real credit belongs to Leonard Peltier for his courage and unconditional suffering for the truth and the people! For that, I will take the credit for saying, I could never turn my back on such an unconditional human sacrifice. I think of all the people, many many of them who I have known in the past who are not with us anymore, who also put their lives on the line to support his freedom and justice for all! There is never a night where i dont lay down and think and pray to the spirits of them all. No, we have a lot of support,; we just have to keep our spirits up and their demons down. We have a common enemy! You know, in the beginning, our people through our ceremonies were told that this issue was going to be a long, hard, drawn out affair. But it was said that if we have the courage and the determination, Leonard would one day walk free! I have taken this to heart and have never lost sight of this ideal! So hang in there because it really matters! Thank you for your time, your convictions, and your good heart! By the way, have you talked to our international office representative David Hill, who recently relocated the ILPDC office to St. Marys. Florida, to be close to Leonard in order to monitor his safety and wellbeing? You might want to talk to David as we are always looking for expert help. So once again, thank you for your time. F.D.
