Dec 20: With the hospitalized acid attack victim still being unable to converse with police, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is scanning her mobile phone in a bid to know if some stalker had been after her. Official sources said victim’s android-based smart phone was being examined by the cyber police experts while apart from call details her social network accounts were being scrutinized. Police said the first thing it took into custody after the attack was victim’s phone. A SIT member said the call details of over last six months were being tracked. “Each and every call is being tracked to know the minutest details,” he said. “Besides we are also tracking her Google talk and other networks like Tango to see if some stalker had been eyeing her for his nefarious designs,” the official told Greater Kashmir on the condition of anonymity. He said the online stalkers were clever enough to lure to its prey. “Social networking has given birth to a new breed of stalkers who pretend to online well wishers, try to make friends but end up proving worst of the enemies,” the official said adding the “same we are trying to analyze in this case.” Meanwhile sources said the City police Chief Amit Kumar Saturday held a closed-door meeting with the District Magistrate Farooq Ahmed Shah and apprized him about the developments into the case, which has left the society up in arms while police continues to be clueless. The duo is understood to have shared vital leads into the case. As about 21-year-old victim who is undergoing specialized treatment for her burn injuries in a Chennai hospital, as per insiders, the doctors who examined her Saturday were indecisive of letting her converse with anyone. “Given the treatment to her injuries doctors said it will take some more days for wounds to heal up before she would be able to converse properly.” “She has to undergo grafting for which her facial muscles need to be relaxed,” the insider said. He said prior to being flown to Chennai hospital for treatment, back home at SKIMS Soura the patient was at risk of hurting her wounds more by being let to converse freely. “Lack of proper medical advisory could have proved detrimental for the patient.” On December 11, two unidentified car-borne youths threw acid on this law student outside her college in Nowshehra locality of east City. Even though number plate of the white Maruti car was covered hinting that the crime was well-planned, ‘MANSA’ inscribed on vehicles rear windscreen has emerged as a vital lead for the police, which it has been tracking, alongside other leads. But police says lack of communication with the victim, whom doctors have advised not to talk, was hindering speedy investigations. “Due to lack of proper conversation we are banking on indirect leads, which is taking time,” the official said.
