December 13, 2014: This is my thirteenth post about gift-giving - TopicsExpress

December 13, 2014: This is my thirteenth post about gift-giving to loved ones. Early in our marriage, my husband gave me the gift of family peace. He made it possible for the two women, who loved him most in life, to get along, and eventually become good friends. It takes a respectful son and a devoted husband to accomplish this. IT IS UP TO THE HUSBAND, TO MAKE THIS WORK!!! If you read my blog of October 18, 2013 you will see that my mother-in-law and I had different paradigms about kitchens. In fact, “I consider my kitchen to be as personal as my underwear.” She considers the kitchen to be utilitarian. The boy, from the Get a Bigger Wagon stories, showed his true loyalty to his wife, me, by telling his mom that she was a guest in our house and we would like to treat her, as such. He made the agreement palatable to both of us. This was perhaps the best gift he could have given me, ever. If you read this week’s From the Cookie Jar Blog, you will know about my Christmas tradition with my mother-in-law. Over time, I became the daughter she always wanted. During surgeries, injuries, and illness, I have been by her side, listening to her stories, and recording many of them. Indeed, I respect and love this woman. I hold her stories in my head and heart. I may know her better than anyone else knows her. I met her over half a century ago, in 1962. getabiggerwagon/blog/posts/a_christmas_tradition_in_saskatchewan.html getabiggerwagon/blog/archive/201310.html
